Hebron commuters can expect major construction impact during the Graves Road Interchange Project in 2020. According to drivingnkyprogress.org, lane impacts will begin this year. Crews will be building a double crossover diamond interchange at I-275 and Graves Road. The new interchange will allow on and off access to and from I-275 at Graves Road. It is also meant to improve safety by eliminating left turns made by oncoming traffic. You can find an example of a double crossover diamond interchange from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet by clicking here.
During construction there will be several changes to the area. The intersection of Williams Road and Graves Road will be moved away from the new ramps. The intersection of KY 20 and Graves Road will also be improved. Crews also plan to widen and realign Graves Road to avoid historic farmland and minimize the impact to local streams. Graves Road will also be more pedestrian friendly with the addition of sidewalks from KY 20 to KY 237.
The project is expected to increase safety and decrease traffic backups along I-275 and KY 237. Due to an increase in manufacturing and businesses, the Hebron area is expected to continue to grow to include more new construction homes. Work on the project is expected to continue through the spring of 2022 at a cost of $56 million.
